Yoga

What Is Yoga?

yogaHatha yoga, the type of yoga provided at Waccamaw Chiropractic and Wellness Center, means “yoga for health”.

Hatha yoga refers to a set of physical exercises (known as asanas or postures) designed to renew, invigorate and heal the body. This is done through stretching and strengthening the muscles and joints of the body, directing blood and oxygen to the internal organs.

These postures are designed to increase physical balance, strength and flexibility, meanwhile opening up the main energy channel of the body, the spine.

When that energy is flowing freely, our body, mind and spirit are more in balance. However, Hatha yoga is not just a physical discipline; it is also a powerful tool for self-transformation and healing. It asks us to bring our attention to our breath, which helps us to still the mind and be more present in each moment.

Who Should Practice Yoga?

Everyone of Course!!!!

At the same, not everyone’s needs are alike and often the levels of desired intensity are different. That is why every class offers modifications of poses so that everyone may enjoy the benefits of yoga practice.

The philosophy of yoga at WCWC is for each individual to stay attentive to his or her own needs and with the instructor’s help, find a level of intensity that works for you!
